The pathology department was officially established in 1979 by the efforts of Dr. Hamid Tabrizchi, the founder of the group, and was responsible for teaching incoming medical students in 1977 and 1978. Since 1991, it has been accepting residents of clinical pathology surgery. By 2009, twenty-one residents have graduated and currently 9 residents are undergoing their specialized course in this group. In addition, the group is responsible for teaching pathology in the general doctoral program of medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery and laboratory sciences, master's and doctoral students in microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy and immunology. It has been cooperating with Zahedan and Rafsanjan faculties since its establishment and now with Bam International Medical School to teach pathology to general medical and dental students.
Objectives of the pathology group:
1. Training of descriptive and clinical pathologists to provide pathology services in public and private laboratories.
2. Providing pathology courses for general medicine students and paraclinical students (laboratory sciences)
3. Appropriate scientific relationship of the group with other educational groups
4. Conducting pathology research and providing research services to other groups
5. Providing diagnostic and monitoring services in the field of cancer registration and management of Kerman Cancer Registration Center
Mission of the pathology group:
The mission of the Department of Pathology Education is for associate degree students, undergraduate and graduate courses in general medicine, dentistry, nursing and midwifery and other affiliated schools, as well as a specialized doctorate in pathology at the university. In addition to training, the responsibility of leading research projects approved by the group and also cooperating in conducting research projects of other colleagues from different groups and to advance the group's goals, cooperation with scientific and research centers in the country and abroad and so far many projects with these groups has done or is running. If the university approves and provides the necessary conditions, the group will be able to communicate with educational research centers around the world, which is one of the future goals of the group.
